Yet another fantastic stay. We were there for 2 weeks in July and it served as a MASSIVE reminder just how special Jwala is and how much we missed it through the pandemic. Everything was flawless and to crown it all, our son Stuart continued the MacLaren tradition of using Jwala for memorable occasions – this time he proposed to his girlfriend Lee at the golf course and delightedly she accepted!!! The whole MacLaren family was present as was his fiance’s parents and twin sister with boyfriend. A splendid occasion. We had magnificent lion sightings of Elvis and his new consort Beauty, plus a massive male leopard just outside the exclusion fence. There is still good water in Motsweri and the game viewing was excellent. But of special note was just how good Annie and Craig run the lodge and when they left on Wednesday, John and staff took over and were beyond exemplary! John has massive potential and is a real sponge for knowledge so we should nurture his talent. The ladies were prompt, very clean and nothing could be faulted!! Another stunning stay….. with gthe lodge and surrounds being in pristine condition!! Plaudits all round…and Emmah was very special in checking in on us twice inCraig and Annie’s absence, and she is another gem we should protect!!

We have just spent just over two weeks at Jwala. It was FANTASTIC to be back there after a 19 month absence caused by the pandemic. The lodge is looking the best it has ever been, the new thatch and Lapa renovations are a real asset addition, the refurbished pool is excellent and the trees in the garden are a delight to behold. They offer so much shade and add this green luxuriance to the lodge. What can we say that has not already been said about Annie and Craig! Nothing is too much trouble, their energy and eye for detail is beyond praise, and the staff respond accordingly to this level of excellence. We had a major lightning strike on the solar system on 27th December but no problem to Craig and Annie. Craig rebuilt the system from scratch with Annie communicating with an SA expert over WhatsApp and then relaying instruction on the radio to Craig. All restored within 12 hours….plaudits indeed!
The bush looks fantastic and the recovery area around Borale is nothing short of miraculous. It truly is a paradise and will be the area’s pantry during winter. General game viewing was good with a notable absence of the main predators (lion and leopard) but that is because there is an abundance of food and water and the game has dispersed.
One of our best stays…very chilled and relaxing, and food for the starved soul after the pandemic impact.
Our vehicle was undergoing minor surgery so we did not rate that, but we used the farm game viewer which was in great condition.
Shareholders should get there ASAP….. it is a real tonic and the welcome you will get from management and staff will make you ask what took so long. One sad note is the retirement of our beloved Anna….but we had the extreme privilege of being there to say our goodbyes to a legend (with appropriate tear shedding!),

I have sent note out to all shareholders. I was most impressed with the new lapa, the road maintenance, the general sprucing up and all the conservation work done over the past two years. Nigel

Had a great time – the only problem was the weather – we found the heat terrible this year!.

We had the most wonderful stay…again! JWALA truly is a home from home for us and to be welcomed by those smiling faces is almost as good as winning the Rugby World Cup! Everything was perfect…the house, the facilities, the grounds, and our bird bath was filled. And to cap it off… we had lions in abundance, elephants by the herds, pythons on the lawn, lots of General game around the lodge and just a very special visit. The pool was spotless (and so needed with the blazing heat!). But the true cherry is the staff and management…Craig and Annie are truly exceptional and nothing is too much trouble or put off until tomorrow. It gets fixed, pronto. Long may we be able to enjoy stays like this.
